AARP Medicare Complete

AARP forged a partnership with United Healthcare to provide more benefits to its customers. Through its AARP Medicare Complete plan with United Healthcare, customers can enjoy the best of both insurance providers.

It offers the same coverage of a Medicare Advantage, and you will never have a hard time signing up for this plan. You are not limited to a single plan as there are several kinds of Complete plans to choose from. As a future plan-holder, you get to choose the one that will ultimately serve your needs.

AARP Medicare Complete

What coverage does the Medicare Complete plan give?

The Medicare Complete provides the same set of coverage with that of the Medicare Advantage plan. With its broad range of benefits, even the most basic plan comes with Medicare Part A and Part B, as well as emergency and urgently-needed medical care. Plan-holders will get a lot of coverage even from this most basic plan, and you can expect more from the others.  No wonder AARP decided to call this insurance plan ‘Complete.’

Some plans under the Complete line will also cover prescription drug costs, as well as some prescription items such as eyeglasses, and hearing aids, to name a few. Vision and hearing check-ups are included, too.

The line-up of plans available will give a broad range of coverage, and you get to decide which one will fit you best. You have to choose carefully and consider if the coverage you have will be adequate to serve your needs for the entire year. Once you are enrolled in a Medicare Complete plan, it will be challenging to change your coverage. To do this, you need to wait until the Open Enrollment period to change plans, upgrade coverage, or do any modification with your plan.

How to sign up in an AARP Medicare Complete plan?

AARP Medicare Complete

AARP offers what the company calls as the open eligibility for Medicare Complete. Through this, one does not need to be a member of AARP or United Healthcare to be able to enroll in a Complete plan. You only need to be eligible for Medicare Advantage, and you will also be qualified to get a Medicare Complete plan. The Open Enrollment period between October 15 to December 7 is the best time to sign up for any medical insurance plan.

Medicare Advantage requires its would-be plan-holders to be 65 years old or older. In some instances, a person needs to be enrolled in an Original Medicare plan, as well. Most of the coverage under Original Medicare is also included in Medicare Advantage and Medicare Complete, so they can already replace this basic plan.

What types of plans does United Healthcare offer?

The Medicare Complete has four different plans in its line-up. This diverse range will give you more ways to enjoy your medical coverage with a network option. HMO plans are the most straightforward and most affordable. However, it can only provide full coverage within the United Healthcare and AARP network. Getting medical services out of this network will mean that you need to pay for such services.

The second type is the point-of-service plan. It is the kind of policy that will provide full coverage inside the network and partial coverage outside. However, it only offers partial coverage for selected medical services availed outside the system.

The preferred provider organization, or PPO, plan is also offered by United Healthcare. It cost more than the HMO because it provides full coverage inside the network and partial coverage outside of it.

Lastly, the fourth type of plan is the private fee-for-service plan. This plan offers a lot of flexibility and grants you the freedom to choose any doctor who will agree to accept your policy and Medicare terms.

Depending on where you live and the options available in your area, you may not have all these plan types to choose from. Your situation will also play a part in determining your qualifications for a specific plan type. Nevertheless, HMO and PPO plans are available in most areas and are the easiest ones to enroll in.

How much is Medicare Complete?
